INTRODUCTION
This seminar is intended for those involved in the management of projects in the engineering and construction industries, and who wish to improve the management of time on those projects.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
- Clients Responsible for the Construction of Complex Engineering and Construction Projects
- Project Managers in the Construction and Engineering Industries, who are required to manage time on complex projects
- Project Administrators (e.g. Principal Agents, Engineers) who are required to adjudicate delay claims
- Project Planners and Schedulers/Programmers
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Once you have completed this seminar you should:
- Understand the principles of good planning
- Understand the principles of preparing a realistic schedule/programme based on good planning, such that the intentions are clearly communicated to all members of the project team
- Understand the importance of monitoring progress throughout the project, and how to adjust the plan to completion when delays occur
While this is not a course in the use of computer software, you should also gain some knowledge of the practical skills required if using software for project planning and control:
- Software programmes available
- Requirements for a technically sound schedule/programme
- Techniques for checking schedules/programmes for technical integrity
In particular, you should have a more detailed understanding of:
- The role of the planning process and of the scheduler/programmer
- The importance of progress updates in maintaining control
- The importance of the schedule/programme in preparing delay claims
