The course focuses on common principles, which should be adopted to ensure:

  • Launching the process of contract administration and putting it on a proper footing personnel appointments and the keeping of proper records
  • Correct, timeous and unambiguous application of the main provisions of the various contracts, particularly formal notices
  • Procedural check-lists to be implemented at various levels of contract administration
  • The value of a first site (kick-off) meeting to establish that procedural rules for interacting on site are fully understood
  • The importance of the Contractor’s Program for carrying out the works
  • Basic appreciation of insurance and warranty aspects
  • Payment on time in terms of the contract
  • Awareness of dealing with variations and claims
  • An appropriate application and compliance of dispute resolution mechanisms
